Day 16: More Iowa and Illinois

I love Iowa.  Like New Mexico, if I was told in the morning that I had to move here, I could do it.  So much beautiful landscape, such nice people, and developments popping up all over so it isn’t barren land.

As a long-time fan of Little House on the Prairie, both the books and the TV show (come on, her name was LAURA and she was forever getting herself into trouble–sound familiar???).  I found out in my research that there are recreations of the places she and her family lived all over the midwest.  So I made it a point to go to one of them today.  In the morning I did a 4-mile low-level hike, then went to the living history farm.  So cool!  A tractor pulled us to the farm land, then it brought us back to the recreated village.  Another long evening of driving ensued, and I am finally showered and in my pajamas, looking forward to Ilinois and hopefully Indiana tomorrow.

Still haven’t used a hairdryer or worn makeup in all these days.  I feel so much more relaxed and am filling those wasted moments grooming on focusing in the now.  Vacating your life is healing.
